Quadrics Allies With STMicroelectronics For HPC Networks

Quadrics Ltd announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with STMicroelectronics to cooperate on the development of high performance communications products.

The cooperation will cover the design of a future generations of Quadrics high speed multi Gb interconnect ICs, and the exploitation of the products in a range of high volume applications.

The new generation of QsNet products will continue Quadrics tradition of supplying the highest performance interconnect technology for massively parallel computer systems, while at the same time offering compliance with emerging standards, such as 10 Gb ethernet. The resulting products will address a wider range of applications in the networking and high end server markets.

Andrea Cuomo, corporate vice president of Advanced System Technology for STMicroelectronics said, "Quadrics' technology offers exciting possibilities in advance communications processing. ST sees a strong potential to apply this technology to emerging standards in high-performance communications and computing."

Quadrics Ltd managing director Cristoforo Romanelli said, "To compete successfully, in quality and price, in today's high technology business you need strong technology partners. This MOU with ST sets us on the right track.
