Definition of success

Reporting to the Head of Network Evolution, the successful candidate will drive development of new access technologies and the access product range. You will be instrumental in determining the success of Freeserve in Broadband (in conjunction with Marketing and Customer Operations) by mapping technological solutions against the business strategy. You will also take ownership for managing the development and implementation of these solutions through to 'in-life' service.

Key responsibilities

Specifically, you will be responsible for:

• Identification of business opportunities brought about by technology solutions.
• Development of internal product business plans.
• Management of cross-functional virtual teams.
• Definition of product standards and processes.
• Negotiation of contract content and commercial agreements.
• Alignment of product related processes, technology, and strategy with Wanadoo France and France Telecom UK.
• Representation of Freeserve in Regulatory and Industry forums.

The ideal candidate will be of graduate calibre and have a minimum of 5 years' experience taking part in the technical qualification of business requirements. You should also have a minimum of 3 years' project management experience in the telecommunications industry. In addition to the above, we would like you to demonstrate:

• Strong technical knowledge of ISP access solutions - especially broadband.
• Proven understanding of POP infrastructure, backbone technologies and supporting technologies such as radius, caching & DNS.
• Strong commercial/business management background.
• Proven history in delivering successful cross functional projects.
• Knowledge of industry and regulatory bodies.
• Basic knowledge of 3G/Wireless.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be an exceptional communicator and be confident dealing with, and presenting to all levels in the business. We are looking for an individual with a methodical and analytical approach, who is able to prioritize their work (and that of their virtual team) effectively. Finally, you must be a flexible and positive person and the ability to speak French would be a distinct advantage.
