Research Computing Support
Digital LibrariesIndiana University recently received a $3 million grant from the Digital Libraries Initiative-Phase 2, to establish a digital music library testbed. IU is seeking skilled computer professionals to develop software tools and applications to support music teaching, learning, and research. Positions are currently available in system architecture, component architecture, and software development. Duties for all positions include system design, programming, and facilitating productive research and instructional use of digital music library applications. All positions require three years programming experience, including experience in Java, and good customer service skills, including the ability to interact professionally with faculty, librarians, and technical staff.
Network EngineersIU is home for the Abilene Network Operations Center and recipient of a $10 million award to develop the TransPAC international network connecting the vBNS to the Asia Pacific Advanced Network (APAN). This strategic initiative provides opportunities for technical leaders to develop, design, and deploy high-capacity, reliable regional networks spanning remote locations, and for senior staff to maintain the systems that deliver administrative and library systems applications across IU-managed networks. Applicants must have extensive experience with advanced network design, management and operations, performance monitoring, security, and with Cisco's IOS. Applicants should have a working knowledge of the Unix operating system and shell programming.
