(Research Programmer in Computational Frameworks)

The Center for Computation & Technology (CCT), a new interdisciplinary
research center at Louisiana State University, invites applications for
research programming positions in Computational Frameworks. The positions
would be at a level of an IT Analyst 2 or 3, depending on the candidate's
experience and qualifications.
Successful candidates will work in the research groups led by Gabrielle Allen
and Edward Seidel to develop framework technologies for high performance and
high end computing, and support applications using such frameworks. The
Frameworks group works primarily with the Cactus Framework
(http://www.cactuscode.org), and works closely with various application
communities including numerical relativity, petroleum engineering, CFD, and
coastal modeling. The group pursues research in topics such as high-end
computing, performance models and optimization, automated code generation and
Grid computing.
Required Qualifications: (IT Analyst 2 or 3) Bachelor's degree in computer
science or relevant scientific field; one year of software programming
experience for IT Analyst 2 or two years of software experience for IT Analyst
3; strong programming skills in C; either a background in software engineering
with advanced software development skills OR computational scientists with
experience in high performance or distributed computing; self-motivated
individuals with excellent communication and professional skills who are
interested in working in a dynamic, team based environment. Additional
Qualifications Desired: familiar with the use of software development tools
such as make and CVS; experience in Perl, shell scripting, Fortran, or
parallel programming using MPI will be an advantage. Successful applicants
