
Research Programmer
National Center for Supercomputing Applications

The National Center for Supercomputing Applications has one Research
Programmer position available. Responsibilities involve designing, developing,
and supporting security software for NCSA's production infrastructure and
staff. This position will primarily be focused on developing security
solutions and services for web services. A secondary function of this position
will be developing security tools for use by NCSA's incident response team and
system administrators. The Research Programmer will be responsible both for
developing new solutions and integrating existing software and for providing
documentation and support to NCSA staff for developed solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in computer science or related field.
Alternative baccalaureate degree fields will be considered/accepted if
accompanied by equivalent experience (depending on nature and depth of
experience as it relates to current NCSA technologies).
- Proficient programming skills in at least one of C or Java
- Proficient scripting skills in at least on common scripting language (e.g.
PERL, Bourne Shell, Python)
- Experience with software design and implementation.
This is an academic professional position at NCSA and is a 12- month, 100%-
time appointment with regular University benefits. Salary commensurate with
experience. Starting date as soon as possible after the closing date of the
search.
